The College of Cooperatives and Social Development (CCSD)
offers academic and non-academic programs specializing in
social, community and cooperatives development and
management. The services of the College focus on promoting
people-based and people-powered development that integrates
the cooperative system for institutionalizing bottom-up,
equitable and democratized wealth creation, control and
allocation.
Message from the Dean
The CCSD curricular programs include the Bachelor in
Cooperatives and the Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Cooperative
Management. The preparations for the offering of the
Bachelor in Community and Social Development in the very near
future is underway. The College gained its Level II
Accredited status in 2009. As of May 2011, it has produced
1,850 graduates from the baccalaureate and post baccalaureate
programs, among them are 1 summa, 14 magna and 52 cum laudes.
The Research and Development Program conducts in-house
studies in line with the University Agenda and priorities of the
College. It also provides research and information
services on collaborative arrangements with external partners.
CCSD publishes the College of Cooperatives Research Journal as
main venue for disseminating the research outputs and papers of
the faculty, students and program partners.
The Extension Services Program provides short-term customized
certificate courses and various cooperative development
assistance to requesting community-based, occupational, and
institutional groups. The CCSD is a Cooperative Development
Authority-accredited training provider which shall help the
cooperatives fulfill the mandated education-training courses for
their officers, members and staff. These types of training are
managed by the Accredited Training and Information Services
Unit.
