Medical and Dental Services Office Conducts Stress Management Lecture

Perlas, PUP News, Volume 8 Issue No. 15 October 1-30, 2011The Polytechnic University of the Philippines Medical and Dental Services contributed to the celebration of the 107th Founding Anniversary of the University by holding a program entitled: “Stress Management: Yoga Laughter” at the Bulwagang Bonifacio, NALLRC on October 4.

The said event headed by the Director of the Medical and Dental Services Dr. Helen P. Almirante, with the participation of the faculty members and students of PUP, conducted the said event with guest speaker Mr. Paolo Martin Trinidad.
Laughter yoga benefits people who are suffering from stress according to Mr. Trinidad. It helps change the mood of a certain person. Moreover, it is a single exercise routine that helps one to reduce physical, mental and emotional stress; strengthens the immune system; helps create a positive mental state to deal with negative situations; and lastly, a happy person attracts many friends.
“A 10-minute Pinoy yoga laughter is equivalent to 30 mins. of jogging,” exclaimed Mr. Trinidad in his lecture.
Also explained in the seminar are the tips on how to breathe properly to relax the mind.
“Everybody was so happy. It was a successful event. Everyone has a smiling face and jolly attitude after the program,” expressed Dr. Helen P. Almirante on the said event.
