Polytechnic University of the Philippines

Message from the President

Emanuel C. De Guzman, Ph.D., PUP Campus Observer, Volume 1, Issue 7, May 2012

I convey my warmest greetings to the PUP community on the occasion of its Year-End Commencement Exercises.

Emanuel C. De Guzman, Ph.D.This momentous event caps another tough but productive academic year that marks the beginning of a new administration, the dawning of a new era for the country’s largest state university.

Let me first congratulate the students for reaching another milestone in their life.

As your new president and as a longtime ‘resident’ of this beloved university, I am sure that their years of stay here which were filled with dedication, perseverance, sacrifices, disappointments, joyful and triumphant memories have contributed to what they are now --- proud members of Class 2012.

Graduation from this institution signifies one’s introduction to the broader and multifaceted realities not only of one’s immediate community but that of the larger society and the hyper-globalized world of today. Every PUP graduate, imbued with a strong sense of nationalism and social consciousness, leaves the portal of this institution guided by moral uprightness and rightfully armed with relevant intellectual proficiencies acquired during their four-year stint or more in the university.

Numerous challenges await our graduates as they strive to fulfill their cherished goals in life. Their individual success depends much on how they will employ – personally and socially – the distinct brand of education provided by the university.

Congratulations then to the PUP-Main campus Class of 2012 and their families, the teaching and non-teaching personnel, and the local administration for yet another collective academic feat. God bless us all.

EMANUEL C. DE GUZMAN, Ph. D.
President
