PUP Hosts PSUCCESS' 2012 National Seminar-Workshop

Dela Fuente, The PUP Observer, Volume 1, Issue 2, July 2012The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) played host to the National Seminar-Workshop on “Integrating Instructional Technology in the K-12 Basic Education Program: Challenges and Directions” organized by the Philippine State Universities and Colleges Computer Education and Systems Society (PSUCCESS) from May 22-24, 2012.
Participants from almost a hundred private and public schools and universities composed of administrators, principals, deans, directors, department chairs, curriculum specialists, information technology (IT) professionals, professors and teachers from around the country were warmly welcomed by PUP President Dr. Emanuel C. De Guzman, joined by President Emeritus Dr. Ofelia M. Carague, Executive Vice President and PSUCCESS Vice President for Luzon – Dr. Victoria C. Naval, and the entire PSUCCESS Officials.
Stories highlighting the program’s necessity and potential impact were shared. However, approaches were recommended as the workshop started. These include the use of technology to reinvent education and blending technology in classroom management. Attendees were divided into five workshop groups – Kindergarten, Grades 1-6, Grades 7-12, Technical-Vocational and Higher Education which were tasked to develop a proposed ICT Curriculum responsive to this new program.
Each group’s output was presented for critiquing during the plenary session facilitated by PSUCCESS Public Relations Officer – Dr. Normita A. Villa. Dr. Villa also delivered the closing remarks as a wrap up to the 3-day activity.
