The Institute for Science and Technology Research (ISTR) is calling all researchers from the different Branches, Campuses, Colleges and Departments of this University to submit research proposals for Institutional funding for the Calendar Year 2016 that fall under the Program Area of Science and Technology, specifically, those that are aligned to the University Research Priorities as articulated in the University Research Manual, namely:
Poverty Reduction, Peace and Security
Accelerating Infrastructure Development through Science and Technology
Competitive Industry and Entrepreneurship
Social and Cultural Development
Environmental Conservation, Protection and Rehabilitation towards Sustainable Development
Researches to be submitted must fall under the Program Area of Science and Technology, which include but not limited to the following topics:
Food Sufficiency
Food Productivity
Nutrition and dietetics
Food Science
Biodiversity
Climate change mitigation and adaptation
Disaster management, preparedness and monitoring
Energy conservation
Environmental conservation, preservation, protection and stewardship
Global warming
Urban ecology
Urban gardening
Material science research
Natural products
Bioinformatics
Mathematical and statistical modeling
Pure and applied mathematics research
Computational and theoretical science
Energy-related infrastructure and facilities
Flood control and management
Irrigation systems
Mechatronics
Resettlement frameworks
Structural engineering
Transportation technology
Urban and rural housing
Water supply and treatment facilities
Data engineering and ubiquitous computing
E-governance
Instrumentation research
Internet and Web applications development

Research proposals must be endorsed by the Department Chair/College Dean/Branch/Campus Director where the proponents belong.
Research proposals must follow the format suggested in the University Research and Development Manual, which include the following items:
Project Identification
The Research Problem
Review of Related Literature
Methodology (or Methods and Materials)
Plan for Analysis (including expected results)
Working Bibliography
Proposed Budget
Phasing of the Project/Timetable
Biodata/Profile of the Project Proponent/s, Researchers, and Research Assistants
