A total of 7,265 candidates for graduation flocked to the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on April 13 and 15 for the 2015 year-end commencement exercises of the country's first polytechnic and largest university.
The Class of 2015 from the main campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila included 56 magna cum laude and 427 cum laude honorees.
The April 13 clusters included the College of Science (CS), College of Education (CoEd), and Institute of Technology (ITech) in the morning and the College of Communication (CoC), College of Tourism, Hospitality and Transportation Management (CTHTM) and College of Computer and Information Sciences (CCIS) in the afternoon.
The April 15 clusters included the College of Accountancy and Finance (CAF) and College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA) in the morning, the College of Business Administration (CBA), College of Arts and Letters (CAL) and College of Human Kinetics (CHK) in the early afternoon, and the College of Engineering (CE), College of Political Science and Public Administration (CPSPA), College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD) and Open University/Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program/Non-Traditional StudiesProgram (OU/ETEEAP/NTSP) in the late afternoon.
The two-day event's commencement speakers included Hon. Leila de Lima, secretary, Department of Justice; Dr. Samuel M. Salvador, vice president for Academic Affairs; Hon. Tonisito Umali, undersecretary, Department of Education; Hon. Maria Leonor Robredo, congressional representative, Camarines Sur; and Hon. Alex Brillantes Jr., commissioner, Commission on Higher Education and chair, PUP Board of Regents.
