The Polytechnic University of the Philippines is among the top 400 higher education institutions in Asia according to an online appraisal by international university rankings compiler Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) for the year 2014.
The 2014 QS University Rankings for Asia had PUP (301+) in a roll which included the University of the Philippines (63), Ateneo de Manila University (115), University of Santo Tomas (141), De La Salle University (151-160), Ateneo de Davao University (251-300), University of Southeastern Philippines (301+), Adamson University (301+), Central Mindanao University (301+), Xavier University (301+), University of San Carlos (301+), Silliman University (301+), Mapua Institute of Technology (301+) and Saint Louis University (301+).
QS identified and ranked Asia’s top 400 universities based on the following key performance indicators: academic and employer reputation, faculty student ratio, citations per paper, proportion of international faculty and students, papers per faculty, and inbound and outbound exchange students.
Meanwhile, PUP placed 10th among the 223 Philippine higher education institutions ranked by search engine 4 International Colleges and Universities (4ICU) according to web popularity. UP Los Baños led the list, followed by DLSU, UP Diliman, UP System, AdMU, UST, UP Manila, University of San Carlos, and Aquinas University of Legaspi.
4ICU’s rankings are mainly sourced from such web metrics as Google Page Rank, Alexa Traffic Rank and Majestic SEO and from the measurement of online traffic, linkbacks and internet popularity.
Another online popularity survey conducted by TheTopTens website placed PUP second to UP in its ranking for the ten best universities in the country. The two state universities are followed by Far Eastern University, UST, AdMU, DLSU, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Mapua, Adamson and University of the East
