COC Students Romp Away With Awards

COC students bagged awards during the “JesCom Young Visionaries Video Competition” held at the Ateneo de Manila University organized by the Jesuit Communications Foundation, Inc., on Sept. 24.

Bahaghari Production and Helix Production of BBrC 3-1N won the nod of the judges with their entry “Demolisyon”, placed second on the Documentary Category while “Bayani” landed third for the Public Service Announcement Category.

Judges were from the different media networks and religious organizations like GMA7, ABS-CBN2, Knowledge Channel, ADMU-Department of Communication, and Jesuit Communications.

Bahaghari Production team is composed of Gerald V. Manuel, Francis Edrian S. Araña, Bryl T. Claridad, Sharmine S. de Jesus, Princess Monique L. Abendan, Cielo P. Quiñonez, and Elmcar E. Visaya.

Meanwhile, Francidieto T. Garcia, Jefferson II P. Dumandan, Julius S. Leyva, Heidi T. Rotaquio, Eden L. Villanueva, Flavianita G. Cervania, and Mary Louise T. Cometa composed the Helix Production.

Furthermore, different universities and colleges joined the competition like the Far Eastern University, Centro Escolar University, Miriam College, La Consolacion College, St. Paul University Quezon City, and St. Joseph’s University Quezon City.

“We are happy that we won. We are the only participants from a State University. It is really something to be proud of because they noticed the creativity of PUP in making films,” Manuel said in an interview.

Top three winners in each category received certificates, gadget showcase, Php5,000 worth of scholarship in the GARAGE workshop in Ateneo De Manila University and a chance for their video to be aired in Knowledge Channel.

Dr. Divina T. Pasumbal, Dr. Anna P. Ruby Gapasin, and Prof. Malaya Abadilla-Ygot coached and motivated the students.
