Regent De Leon Is Convocation Speaker
Emeteria Leonila Abayan-Perez, PUP Campus Observer, Volume 1, Issue 2, January 2012The University welcomed the Christmas season with a thanksgiving mass and a convocation on December 16, Friday. The theme of the celebration was “Pasko sa PUP 2011: Ipagdiwang nang may Pagmamahalan, Pagkakaisa, at Kapayapaang Pinapatnubayan ng Maykapal.”

The thanksgiving mass celebrated by the University Chaplain, Father Lonnie Borg, MSSP, was attended by the University community. Officer-in- Charge Estelita Wi Dela Rosa, as well as the vice presidents, college deans and their chairpersons, office directors and their chiefs, and some campus directors were at the mass. The Officer-in-Charge gave her Christmas message before the mass ended.
Everyone proceeded to the Bulwagang Balagtas for the Christmas convocation right after the mass. Executive Vice President Victoria C. Naval gave the opening remarks.
OIC Dela Rosa introduced the convocation speaker, Hon. Corazon Alma G. de Leon, a member of the PUP Board of Regents and former Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The speaker reminded the audience that in order for the institution to be united, the members should say I love you, I am sorry, and thank you more often. She also said that “in our life, we should always remember to love God first, then our country, next our fellowmen, and last our work.” Moreover, she inspired the teachers by saying that to be a teacher is “to amend the past, to enhance the present, and to touch the future.” She concluded her speech by urging the audience to never stop believing in their dreams.
With the two activities happening in just one morning, and after having been inspired by the convocation speaker’s message, the PUP community awaited the remaining days of the Christmas season
