UNAKA-PUP Prepares for Election
Emeteria Leonila Abayan-Perez, PUP Campus Observer, Volume 1, Issue 4, February 2012The Unyon ng mga Kawani sa PUP (UNAKA-PUP) is now preparing for the election on February 14, 2012. The organization, whose main goal is to promote the welfare of the administrative staff of the University, aims to strengthen the bond that keeps the employees together.
The outgoing UNAKA president, Mr. Dindo A. Bautista, says that he expects the next set of officers to continue implementing what his group has started. He is hoping that the Unyon will keep on expressing its views and opinions about all issues on campus. He is also looking forward to the members’ full support for the Unyon’s projects and activities.
The following are some of the achievements of the outgoing officers of UNAKA-PUP: (1) 60%-70% implementation of the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) that includes equal benefits for both casual and permanent employees; (2) tie-up with ACT Party List; (3) opening of Botika ng Manggagawa with the aid of the Department of Health (DOH); and (4) complete registration of the Unyon at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR).
The initial fund for Botika ng Manggagawa is P50,000. Employees and faculty members can purchase particular medicines from the said drugstore at a cheaper price.
The accomplishments of the outgoing officers are a big challenge to the incoming ones.
A Meeting de Avance was held on February 10 at the ground-floor lobby of the main building. UNAKA-PUP Comelec Chairman Willy S. Noble announced that the election would be held on Valentine’s Day at 8 o’clock in the morning and would be finished at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Expect the results a day after the election.
