Dr. Muhi named VP for Research, Extension and DevelopmentDan Esponilla Dalac, The PUP Observer, Volume 1, Issue 2, July 2012
Leading the roster of new officials appointed to key administrative posts as the country’s largest state university gears for major institutional changes is Dr. Manuel M. Muhi. Dr. Muhi, who now serves as the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development, replaced Dr. Pastor B. Malaborbor, who was at the helm of the university’s research, extension and development office for six years. Dr. Malaborbor has recently retired from government service.
"Sir Bong" Muhi is a true blooded PUPian. He finished his BS in Civil Engineering and was the editor of The Catalyst when he was a young student in the university. Like PUP President Dr. Emanuel C. De Guzman, who was also The Catalyst E-I-C, Sir Bong shares a penchant for progressive and worthy causes which he expresses through writing.
A licensed civil engineer, Vice President Muhi has several masters degrees on his belt: Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP); Master of Road and Transportation Engineering from the International Institute for Infrastructure, Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands; and Master of Construction Management from the PUP Open University. He has earned his Doctor of Technology in Civil Engineering from TUP. In addition, VP Muhi is currently taking his Executive Doctorate in Education at the Development Academy of the Philippines.
Moreover, VP Muhi is the former Dean of the College of Engineering and Executive Secretary of the University President.
Directors, research coordinators and staff of the different offices under the Vice President for Research, Extension and Development welcome the new VP.
