Attended by faculty members from the different PUP campuses and branches, the seminar generally intends to inform the academic community on the implications of this paradigm shift in the curriculum to the general course of education in the Philippines. The phased implementation of the K-12 hopes to benefit various sectors in the archipelago to be ready for the changes in the coming years.

Invited in the seminar are distinguished personalities in the field of education. Dr. Ponciano A. Menguito, Superintendent of the City Schools of Manila, was the Keynote Speaker. He enjoined the community to have an open mind on this new paradigm and to wait for the full implementation of the K-12 as it is being passed into law by Congress.

With Dr. Menguito are three other distinguished resource speakers. They are: Dr. Beatriz G. Torno, Executive Director of the Teacher Education Council (TEC), who spoke about the implications of the K-12. Dr. Gladys C. Nivera; Head of the Department of Mathematics of the Philippine Normal University and representative of DepEd-NCR, talked about the K to 12 Basic Mathematic Curriculum; Ms. Gina Rocena, Head Teacher of the English Department of Quezon City High School, enlightened the audience about the K to 12 Basic English Curriculum.

This school year Grade 7 was implemented in all public high schools following the phased implementation of the K-12 curriculum.
