"We may be able to accommodate some of you in our agency," Nacianceno told the more than 150 graduates of the University's GS and OUS which had a joint graduation ceremony at the Bulwagang Balagtas of the Ninoy Aquino Library and Learning Resources Center, PUP Main Campus, Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The MMDA genera l manager, who was conferred Doctor of Public Administration, Honoris Causa, by PUP President Dr. Dante G. Guevarra with the as sistance of the university vice presidents led by Executive Vice President Dr. Victoria C. Naval, told the graduates that MMDA is rapidly becoming a very efficient government agency in delivering important services to the several million residents of Metro Manila.
He admitted though that attaining what MMDA has presently achieved was not an easy task. Pointing out that the said agency was being pilloried and continuously on suspicion by its critics who could not see any good thing that MMDA does. "Every mistake is being magnified by our critics," Nacianceno said.
But the result of the recent survey conducted on the efficiency of the various government agencies showed that they were succeeding in their efforts to make MMDA a very effective institution as Nacianceno disclosed that MMDA ranked third as the most efficient government agency.
Nacianceno likewise disclosed that the installation of almost 200 cameras in s everal strategic places in Metro Manila is now bearing fruit. Thru these cameras, he said, the agency can easily monitor undisciplined drivers and abusive traffic enforcers.
"These cameras and our linkages with several radio stations which provide important information on traffic congestions in the met ropolis help motorists to avoid traffic snarls," he said as he congratulated the graduates for pursuing and finishing their graduate studies.
According to him, thru their diplomas the graduates may be promoted or easily get high-paying jobs. This year, GS churned out 24 doctorate graduates and 81 master's graduates in its three doctorate and 17 master's degree programs. GS Dean Amalia Cullarin Rosales led the GS administration staff, chairpersons of the different programs and faculty members while Engr. Leodegario SM. Bautista also attended the graduation rites together with his own staff, chairpersons and faculty of OUS.
Dr. Cristeta A Baysa, a graduate of Doctor in Business Administration, delivered her thanksgiving speech whi le Alumni Board of Regent Rene A. Tanasas led the oath of pledge of loyalty.
