Pres. Dante Guevarra with UCCA Director Segundo Dizon during Fr. Borg's blessing of the Film Center in February. Also present were UCCA chiefs and staff.
The PUP FILM CENTER is expected to promote greater understanding, appreciation and access to film culture. It would revitalize PUP's commitment to the cultivation of Filipino culture as well as global heritage through traditional and digital film presentations and/or audio-visual productions. It would give greater chance to underprivileged students and young professionals who have the passion for film making and production but could not enroll or avail fil courses being offered by expensive film schools in the country.
The CENTER will offer diploma and certificate programs on Film Production Scriptwriting, Cinematography, Digital Film Making etc. Local and international film festivals, seminar-training workshops, movie screenings, film reviews, publication of film journals and researches and Film library are just some of the priority projects of the revived Film Center.
The university will be inviting special lecturers from the film industry who will handle the courses for the certificate programs, trainings and workshops.
The re-establishment of the PUP Film Center is another milestone for the university through the stewardship of President Dante G. Guevarra and it is expected that through the PUP Film Center, the art of filmmaking will be brought closer to the masses.
