Because the Polytechnic University of the Philippines is a center of both learning and research, it commits itself to the pursuit of excellence in both realms. This commitment has led to the creation of the Science and Technology Research and Development Center (STRDC) tasked to promote scientific consciousness, develop relevant R&D expertise in the academe, and contribute to the national goal of developing the indigenous scientific and technological base needed for Philippine industrialization.
