In celebration of the 30th year of Social History in PUP, the Center for Social History under the Institute for Cultural Studies, Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, Planning and Development (OVPREPD) will be holding a “CHED-Endorsed National Lecture Series on Social History,” on October 3 and November 29, 2016 at the PUP Bonifacio Hall, NALLRC, Main Campus, Sta. Mesa, Manila. The lectures are free and open to the public.
The lecturers on October 3 are Dr. Nelson Turgo from Cardiff University, Wales United Kingdom and Dr. Alwin Aguirre from University of the Philippines Diliman. Dr. Turgo will discuss the “The Local Life of a Fishing Community in the Philippines: Focus on the Production of Local Knowledge” and Dr. Aguirre will discuss the topic “Negotiating Filipino in Cyberspace: New Zealand-based Filipino’s Identity Construction in Social Media”.
In November 29, Dr. Milagros Guerrero from University of the Philippines Diliman and Prof. Xiao Chua from De La Salle University will be the lecturers. Dr. Guerrero will discuss “Ang Haring Bayang Katagalugan” and Prof. Chua will tackle “Rebolusyonaryong Gobyerno nga ba ang Haring Bayang Katagalugan?”
Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis and there will be no pre-registration. The actual registration starts at 8:00 in the morning and 1:00 in the afternoon.
