The Polytechnic University of the Philippines formally began its Academic Year 2022-2023 last October 10.
Students flocked to university grounds and avenues to participate in the limited face-to-face classes festivities, where academic organizations and other student formations set up booths and conducted various performances in line with the celebration. The Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral (SKM) also led a lightning rally inside the PUP-Sta. Mesa, with the call to stop the university’s impending budget cut in the coming fiscal year one of their demands.
The Balik-Sinta 2022 event, headed by President Manuel M. Muhi, was held simultaneously at the PUP Main Campus, as well as its branches and satellite campuses, and was streamed live on Facebook.
Dr. Muhi assured the PUP community about the new academic year in his address.
“Naniniwala po ako na ang pwersa ng ating sama-samang pagsisikap ay maaaring mas makapangyarihan kaysa sa ating mga takot at pag-aalinlangan at pag-aaagam-agam,” he said.
He also announced various developments within the university and emphasized PUP’s ongoing efforts to create a healthy and conducive learning environment for its stakeholders.
“Bagamat kulang tayo sa pondo, tayo ay gumagawa ng paraan upang ito po ay ipatayo at magbigay sa inyo ng maayos na serbisyo.”
Meanwhile, alongside the opening ceremony, the PUP Institute for Science and Technology Research Director led by Dr. Armin Coronado, launched a book called “Munting Luntian.” It aims to promote appreciation of nature and the specific role of plants and trees in addressing the impacts of climate change.
The University announced the conduct of hybrid, online and correspondence mode of teaching and learning modalities for the upcoming semester.
