With the help of the Manila City Government, at least 18 PUP medical staff received their first vaccine doses against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on March 9, 2021 at the Sta. Ana Hospital in Manila.
According to Dr. Liza T. Yanes, Director of PUP Medical Services Department, they have been inoculated with Sinovac jabs and felt safer after receiving the vaccine. Dr. Yanes added that while it is not required, all medical and dental staff of PUP voluntarily pre-registered to be inoculated.
PUP medical and dental staff were among the frontline workers who were the first recipients in the priority list as prescribed by the Interim National Immunization Technical Advisory Group, a team of health experts advising the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.
