The College of Human Kinetics (CHK), in collaboration with College of Education – Graduate Studies (Coed-GS), Master in Physical Education and Sports (MPES) Society, National Council for Physical Educators (NCPEP), Inc., and Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) of the Philippines, organized an extension program for its partner beneficiaries from the Department of Education, School Division of Manila, titled CHK CARE (Community Advancement through Responsive human Engagement) and MPES KaPEhan: DepEd Faculty & Staff Empowerment & Resilience on January 12, 2022.
With the theme “Electrifying Physical Activities and Indoor-Outdoor Engagement through the Utilization of Enhanced and Innovative Sports,” the program offered a series of talks to develop one’s interest in physical education and sports.
PPA of the Philippines Founder and President Coach Jenny Marcos, Board Members Ms. Mia Elaine C. Andaliza and Coach Joel V. Valencia, and Philippine Women’s Netball Team “SIKLAB” Technical/Assistant Coach Mr. Jose Andres C. Serrano III served as speakers in the event.
In their talk, Coach Marcos and Ms. Andaliza shared how the association of Professional Pickleball was established and promoted the vision, mission, and history of Pickleball. Coach Valencia discussed the basic rules in playing Pickleball while Coach Serrano III imparted his knowledge about the history and basic rules of Netball and mentioned how the discourse on Pickleball and Netball evolved through time.
After the discussion, various teachers from DepEd Manila exchanged and expressed their thoughts about Pickleball and Netball through an open forum.
