To give information on various species of tropical fruits, the University launched its research book titled: “A Compendium of fungal pathogens and parasitic nematodes associated with selected Philippine fruit crops”, and PUP MycoNema Databank Website at the Dr. Pablo Mateo Conference Room, PUP Manila Campus on March 1, 2022.
The project aims to assess the fungal pathogens and parasitic nematodes that cause diseases in selected fruits of the Philippines. Among the fruits are banana, pineapple, mango, and other fleshly fruits that are highly susceptible to contagion of fungi and nematodes, normally occurring in the field or during post-harvest storage.
Aside from the launching of the research book, the project team also launched its PUP MycoNema Bank website. The website is composed of four (4) projects repositories as fungi and nematodes are different characteristics. The users have two options in navigating the databank either through categories or quick scanning to access various researches on fungi and nematodes.
The MycoNema Project is a research grant from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through its DARE-TO K to 12 Transition Program.
