The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs together with the Office of Student Services and the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations spearheaded the Nemesio E. Prudente Lecture Series and Leadership Training (NEPS 2017) on June 6, 7 and 9, 2017 at the Cebu room, Hasmin Hostel, M.H. Del Pilar Campus.
Selected student leaders from more than 40 distinct organizations inside the University applied, and were selected to be part of the three-day event.
The lecture series were divided into 8 sessions where Dr. Gerardo M. Lanuza discussed the “Tools of Social Analysis”; Dr. Francis Gealogo tackled “Understanding the Philippines (Structural and Historical Approach): The Filipinos Amidst the Global Village”; Dr. Malou Agustin dwelt on “The State of Philippine Education and Culture”; Former Kabataan Partylist Representative Raymond Palatino on the “Agrarian Economy and the Imperatives of Industrialization”; National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Undersecretary Marion Jimenez-Tan on “the Quest of Lasting Peace and Pro-people Governance”; Prof. Sarah Raymundo on “The Global Crisis and the Challenge of Independence in a Globalized World”; Prof. Lani Flore on “People’s Movement and Causes”; and PUP President Dr. Emanuel C. De Guzman on “The Social Context of Learning”.
Meanwhile, VPAA Dr. Manuel Muhi and Prof. Rimando Felicia acted as the speakers in the leadership training. Dr. Muhi discussed the basic leadership training while Prof. Felicia dwelt on the organization management.
This open academic gathering was created to provide discussion to re-understand the Nemesio E. Prudente Nationalist Tradition.
