The Center for Labor and Industrial Relations (CLIR) of the Institute of Human and Social Development in cooperation with the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) organized a Leadership Training Seminar titled “Advancing the Rights and Welfare of teaching and non-teaching personnel in State Colleges of Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel in State Universities and Colleges through Genuine Leadership and Collective Action” which was held on September 6 & 7, 2018 at the College of Arts and Letters, Multi-Media Center, PUP Main.
The 2-day training-seminar discussed the History of the teachers and personnel movement, and the root causes of issues and problems as part of the national situation. Speaker Prof. Carl Marc Ramota, President of UP Academic Union, said that the union’s existence is very important to unite teachers and employees in advancing the rights of teaching and non-teaching personnel. “Upang itaguyod ang karapatan at interes ng manggagawa ay mahalaga na magkaroon ng isang unyon upangmapagtibay ang isang samahan na magtataguyod sa kapakanan ng nakakarami,” Ramota said.
In addition to this, he also discussed the ingenuity of union leadership in state colleges and universities.
Workshop on GSIS policies, Employee Benefits and Civil Service Commission Policies were also held.
