Around 3,000 students under the National Service Training Program (NSTP) of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) assembled on November 29 at the Prudente Freedom Park within the A. Mabini Campus in Manila in response to the mounting call for global action on climate change.
Led by NSTP Director Dr. Rovelina B. Jacolbia, the students marched along the streets of Sta. Mesa after a brief program attended by Center for Environmental Studies (CES) Chief Prof. Joey S. Pinalas and Mr. Francis dela Cruz of the Climate Justice Pilipinas Movement.
Sanctioned by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and encouraged by Executive Vice President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, 54 sections handled by 18 NSTP instructors participated in the PUP leg of this year's global day of action on climate change.
NSTP instructors Lorenza Caparas, Dan Esponilla Dalac, Jesusana Dejito, Kristel Joy Dita, Anne Enguerra, Olivia Fabi, Elizabeth Fernando, Roy Mark Gerez, Ronrico Herbolario, Analyn Lim, Carmencita Mabborang, Jonalyn Mabborang, Ma. Ruth Mendoza, Nona Lorena Palma, Mario Pelagio, Marietta Sangalang and Rayan Soriano assisted Dr. Jacolbia.
