The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) – Extension Management Office (EMO) organized three (3) outreach activities last November 4 and 17, and December 7, 2020 as part of its Lingap Komunidad Program.
On November 4, EMO distributed 200 food packs to victims of the recent fire incident in Barangay 628 Anonas Street, Sta. Mesa, Manila. They also endorsed two (2) boxes comprised of pre-loved clothes and 54 boxes of milk formula to the barangay hosting the fire victims. As of current, they are temporarily sheltered at Nuestra Senora de Salvacion Parish along Anonas Street.
Two (2) boxes filled with pre-loved clothes and food packs were also distributed to families affected by Typhoon Ulysses in Marikina last November 17, 2020.
Aside from the communities in the Metro, EMO also visited Biñan and Sta. Rosa, Laguna to distribute goods and food packs on December 7.
The outreach activities were made possible through the generous support of FEDAAPI (Federation of Alumni Associations in PUP) members based in the United States through the Guardian Angels of America Foundation (GAAF). For the Marikina donation drive, several more alumni volunteers and Prof. Axle Christien Tugano provided additional assistance.
Lingap Komunidad is the University’s flagship program for outreach and community support. It has facilitated various food and relief distribution programs throughout the whole year.
