A Sumitomo Foundation representative visited the Polytechnic University of the Philippines for an orientation on Japan-related research projects to solicit applications with approximately 50 Million Yen budget held on August 14, 2018 at the Nemesio Prudente Hall.
Mr. Akinori Matsunaga led the orientation attended by 50 faculty members and head of offices regarding the process of application and approval of grants.
The grant covers expenses such as remuneration for co-operator/assistant, transport and accommodation, domestic/overseas communication and courier, rental/procurement of goods, printing/publication of research results, etc.
Selection of applications will be made by the foundation’s selection committee and shall be approved by the board of directors based on the committee’s recommendations.
Aside from the Philippines, the foundation awarded research projects in different countries such as China, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Iran, India, Iraq, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Laos, Mongolia, Cambodia, Uzbekistan, and Yemen, among others.
