Bradley Jason Pantajo and Regin De Guzman’s “Pamana ni Lola” won the Best Student Short Film at the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal held at the New Frontier Theater, December 27. Both are freshmen Performing Arts students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Sta. Mesa Campus.
The winning film took inspiration from Pantajo’s hometown in Rodriguez, Rizal: it “tells the story of Alissa, a teenager who is slowly discovering what it means to grow up into a woman in their household. Belonging to a family who still subscribes to old-fashioned beliefs, Alissa is torn over whether to live on her own terms or abandon her family altogether.”
It was shown alongside official full-length entry, “Mindanao” from acclaimed director Brillante Ma. Mendoza and stars Judy Ann Santos and Allen Dizon. For the full list of MMFF 2019 winners, click this link. ###
