The National Capital Region (NCR) remained undisputed as they were again awarded as over-all champion in the recently concluded State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) National Games 2018.
The six-day sports competition was held on February 18 to 24, 2018 at the Binirayan Sports Complex, San Jose, Antique where participants competed in various sporting events namely archery, arnis, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, football, futsal, karatedo, lawn tennis, pencak silat, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball and beach volleyball.
The event ended with the awarding of NCR as the overall champion with 165 golds, 59 silvers, and 45 bronzes. NCR emerged triumphant in Arnis (Women), Baseball (Men), Basketball (Men and Women), Beach Volleyball (Men and Women), Dance Sport, Karatedo (Men and Women), Lawn Tennis (Men), Pencat Silat (Men), Sepak Takraw (Men and Women), Soft Ball (Women), Swimming (Men and Women), Table Tennis (Men and Women), Tae-Kwon-do (Men), and Volleyball (Women).
Swimming, Arnis, and Sepak Takraw gave NCR the best scores with 63, 12, 12 gold medals count respectively.
Ranked second was Central Luzon with 83 gold medals, with 71 silvers and 84 bronzes. It was followed by Western Visayas with 40 gold medals, 38 silvers and 70 bronzes.
Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sta. Mesa is part of the NCR delegation in the said SCUAA National Games 2018.
