To expand the discourse on the roles of artificial intelligence (AI) and innovations, the Research Institute for Strategic Foresight and Innovation (RISFI) under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, Planning, and Development (OVPREPD) conducted a webinar series titled “Future Thinking International Webinar 2021 (FTIW 2021): Futures of AI, AI Ethics, and Innovations” on December 8-10, 2021, live at PUP Facebook page.
The webinar featured 12 speakers from the fields of information and technology, data science, communication, entrepreneurship, and academia to discuss the future of artificial intelligence, AI ethics, and the future of innovation, as well as the related ethical issues, and how institutions should respond to strike a balance through interdisciplinary and intercultural dialogues. The webinar’s purpose was to contribute to the enormous ongoing effort to build a long-term, inclusive, and complete foundation for AI.
“Over the past few years we have witnessed a massive expansion in the development and use of digital technologies across societies, economists which in many ways have changed the way we think, work, and live. This digital transformation continues to evolve in unprecedented speed calling for industries, government, and economists to pick up the pace to maximize the benefits of this groundbreaking innovations and technological advances,” said Dr. Anna Ruby Gapasin, Vice President for Research, Extension, Planning, and Development.
The University recently created its own Research Institute for Strategic Foresight and Innovation (RISFI) office, which aims to empower the community through futures thinking and strategic foresight. Through active academic interactions and research sharing, the office will act as a hub for futurists, academics, and scholars to communicate and explore ideas. It will also allow the university to widen or build new relationships, network, and provide a bigger platform for partnerships.
