The Institute of Non-Traditional Study Program (NTSP) and Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) or INE of the PUP Open University System conducted a two-day Training Workshop on Tutoring and INE Evaluation Process.
Attended by tutors from the different colleges of the university, the Training Workshop aimed to achieve the following objectives: to introduce and orient the Tutors to the PUP eMabini eLearning portal and the PUP Learning Management System (LMS); and to discuss the duties and responsibilities of tutors and assessors.
Day 1 of the training workshop commenced with a success testimony from an ETEEAP/NTSP student presently enrolled in a business program. Mrs. Mercedes S. Cruz, 65, spoke on how, upon discovering the nontraditional studies program, she was given the hope of fulfilling a lifelong dream of acquiring a baccalaureate degree.
This was followed by a lecture given by Prof. Jerome P. Dumlao on how to efficiently and effectively use the LMS. Prof. Dumlao is the Head of Instructional Materials Development Office (IMDO) and Chair of the BS Entrepreneurship program. A prolific user of the eMabini eLearning portal, he likewise shared various tips on the use of the portal to the tutors.
The third part of the morning session was the introduction of the PUP Learning Management System (LMS). Engr. Pedrito Tenerife, Jr., Chief of the Learning Management System discussed the important aspects of the system and taught the participants on how to use this to complement and enhance their teaching in the INE.
The start of the afternoon session witnessed the Tutor’s Orientation done by INE Director Dr. Remedios G. Ado. This was followed by the Assessors’ Orientation led by Dr. Raquel G. Ramos, dean of the College of Business Administration and erstwhile Director of the INE.
The rest of Day 1 was devoted to the LMS workshop for the first batch of Tttors from the following colleges: CPSPA, CSSD, COEd, CAF and CE.
The morning session of Day 2 was dedicated to the LMS workshop of the second batch of Tutors from the colleges of CCIS, CBA, CTHTM, CS, CAL, etc.
The concluding part of the two-day training workshop was dubbed “Meet and Greet” where the students of the INE came and met with their tutors face to face.
The training workshop was held from August 24 to 25, 2017, at the ICTO Laboratory at the NALLRC.
