The Polytechnic University of the Philippines is the top school of choice of many companies in the country when hiring fresh graduates, according to the survey conducted by JobStreet.com Philippines.
The popular job employment website surveyed 551 companies from the period of February 22 to March 7 this year. PUP jumped to number 1 from the fifth place in 2015, surpassing last year’s top four such as the University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo De Manila University, and De La Salle University.
“Why have employers warmed up to PUP graduates? They have the drive to succeed and very hardworking. They have reasonable demands and they don’t usually display an attitude of self-entitlement. They also tend to stay longer in a company and they don’t leave at the slightest difficulty,” JobStreet.com Philippines country manager Philip Gioca said in an interview with the media.
Gioca also added that companies in various industries often look at trainability, communication skills, competence, willingness to learn, initiative, honesty, integrity, and most importantly, the right attitude to learn and on being trained.
