A forum on the role of social institutions in the upcoming elections was launched on March 14, 2016 at the Bulwagang Bonifacio, NALLRC.
The three-day event titled "Bayan at Halalan: The Role of Social Institutions in Reframing the Filipino Nation" was organized by the Department of History, Institute for Social Sciences and Development, Center for Peace and Poverty Alleviation Studies and Center for Public Administration and Governance.
Among the topics presented during the event were the Historical Development of Electoral Politics in the Philippines discussed by Prof. Roland Simbulan from the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila; Voter's Education discussed by Atty. Nesrin Cali from the Commission on Elections; Citizen Journalism and Social Media Age discussed by Ms. Rowena Paraan of ABS-CBN, Bayan Mo I-Patrol Mo; and Broadcast Media in Politics discussed by Ma. Theresa Reyes, Editorial Manager of CNN Philippines.
