The Department of Interior and Local Government in partnership with the European Union Philippines Justice Support Programme (EPJUST-II) awarded the Polytechnic University of the Philippines a Certificate of Appreciation for its active involvement and participation in the project titled Strengthening the Capacities of Direct Service Providers in Handling Violence against Women and Children held on August 24, 2016 at the Marco Polo Hotel, Pasig City with the event theme, Justice for All: Enhancing Accessibility, Fighting Impunity.
PUP officials led by Research Management Office (RMO) Director Dr. Racidon P. Bernarte, together with Extension Management Office (EMO) Director Asst. Prof. Zandro T. Estella and Chief Asst. Prof. Randy D. Sagun, received the award in behalf of the University. Top officials from various government agencies, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), academic institutions and other organizations involved in the EU-DILG project attended the ceremony. DILG Undersecretary Austere A. Panadero commended the role played by its partner-organizations in the implementation of the project while His Excellency Ambassador Franz Jessen, the Head of the European Union Delegation acknowledged the positive outcome of its collaboration with the agency. Meanwhile, Supreme Court of the Philippines Chief Justice Maria Lourdes P.A. Sereno, the Keynote Speaker of the event acknowledges the support imparted by the European Union in highlighting the effectiveness, fairness and significance of the justice system in the country.
The activity ended with the walkthrough ribbon-cutting of the exhibit led by Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lordes P.A. Sereno, DILG Secretary Ismael D. Sueno and Department of Justice Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre II showcasing the various modes of interventions provided by its partner agencies in the said project.
