The Institute for Labor and Industrial Relations (ILIR) in cooperation with the Center for Labor Research and Publications spearheaded Saliksikan by its Director Rimando Felicia and Chief Jomar Adaya launched a CHED-endorsed seminar on Labor Research and Academic Writing on April 12 at the Bulwagang Bonifacio, PUP NALLRC.
It was an open academic gathering created to provide discussions on how to write good research articles that are qualified for journal publications. The said seminar was divided into two parts. The first part focused on a lecture on writing research journal articles. Dr. David Michael San Juan, an associate professor at the Department of Filipino of De La Salle University Manila served as the resource speaker. As for the second half of the program, Dr. Ramon Guillermo, an associate professor at the Department of Filipino and Philippine Literature of the University of the Philippines Diliman acted as the resource speaker. Dr. Guillermo's lecture centered on the significance of research in the context of current labor situations in the Philippines as well as relevant theories and methodologies.
This breakthrough seminar on academic writing on labor was attended by several students and faculty members from the Lyceum of the Philippines University, Far Eastern University, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, Marikina Polytechnic College, and Colegio de sta. Theresa de Avila. Researchers from Crispin Beltran Resource Center, Ecumenical Institute for Labor Education and Research, and Urban Poor Resource Center of the Philippines were also among the distinguished attendees of the said event.
