In the recently concluded 32nd Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. Annual Conference, the PUP Quality Assurance Center bagged the top spot as the Most Outstanding Internal Quality Assurance Unit (IQAU) for 2018.
This commendation that was given to top five (5) IQAUs was awarded based on the accomplishments and achievements of the internal quality assurance unit for 2018. Moreover, the structure, program implementation, and the budget priority given to the unit by its institution were also considered. The roster of awardees were: Polytechnic University of the Philippines, top 1; West Visayas State University, top 2; Visayas State University, top 3; Pangasinan State University, top 4; and Jose Rizal Memorial State University, top 5.
The receipt of this award was strongly affirmed with another award -- the recognition of PUP as second top ranking SUC in terms of number of programs accredited in the recent year. The University was able to submit 70 programs for accreditation which included the PUP branches. This was the highest number of programs applied for accreditation in the history of PUP. Furthermore, 2018 was a significant year as some of the academic programs offered in the PUP Branches attained Level I accreditation status.
The top SUCs were ranked as follows: Cebu Technological University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Negros Oriental State University, University of Antique, Visayas State University, Bicol University, Cavite State University, Northwest Samar State University, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, University of Rizal System, Isabela State University, West Visayas State University, Southern Luzon State University, and Tarlac State University.
QAC Director Sanjay P. Claudio received the awards on behalf of PUP. Also present were Chief Rebecca E. Palma, QA Coordinator Teresa V. Mobilla, and College of Business Administration Dean Raquel G. Ramos. “These awards would not be possible without the support and guidance of the PUP Executive Committee headed by President Emanuel C. De Guzman and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Manuel M. Muhi and the strong sense of service of all the academic and non-academic officials of the University in the Main Campus and in our Branches,” said Dir. Claudio when asked how the Unit was able to achieve such recognitions.
To date, PUP program offerings have the following accreditation level: four (4) Level IV phase 1 qualifiers; thirty-six (36) Level III Re-accredited; nine (9) Level III Phase 1 qualifiers; four (4) Level II Re-accredited; thirty-two (32) Level I Accredited; and thirty-three (33) on candidate status.
To continue its mission to nurture a culture of quality, the University granted a 10M budget to QAC for 2019 which are earmarked for Institutional Accreditation, Institutional Sustainability Assessment, Center of Development and Center of Excellence program application, and AACCUP program accreditation.
