PUP College of Education (CoEd) conducted a donation drive to extend relief assistance to hundreds of families in Montalban, Rizal heavily-affected by the Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.
Through generous cash and in-kind donations from private individuals and concerned faculty members, the relief initiative raised several packs of groceries, sacks of clothing, blankets, toiletries, and other necessary items, which were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare Department (MSWD) of Montalban last December 19.
Aside from donations of relief goods, CoEd also coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) and the Health Facilities Development Bureau of the Department of Health (DOH) to procure additional medicines, face masks, face shields, and hygiene materials.
“This is an effort by the college to realize its responsibility to communities through its extension and outreach activities. The collective will of a few people propelled this effort, that is why it greatly spread like wildfire to others," said Dr. Ma. Junithesmer D. Rosales, the Dean of the College.
The donation drive is a joint project of the CoEd Extension Office and CoEd Faculty Club that aims to extend aid to the victims especially during this Christmas season.
Chief of CoEd Extension Office and interim Faculty Club President Dr. Manolito San Jose, said that the college continues to partner with other organizations to reach more typhoon-stricken areas.
