Laurenze John G. Estrada, a Civil Engineering major, leads this year’s system-wide honor roll after obtaining a general weighted average of 1.19 which made him the lone summa cum laude graduate in the entire Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

The 21-year-old student from PUP Lopez, Quezon leads the more than 14,084-strong system-wide Class of 2014 which has also produced 149 magna cum laude and 588 cum laude graduates.
Estrada was a consistent President’s Lister from 2009 to 2013. He was a regional and national finalist in the 2013 Civil Engineering Quiz of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers. He also emerged as provincial champion and regional third placer in the 2009 Statistics Quiz Bee of the National Statistics Office.
A former president of the PUPLopez, Quezon chapters of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers and the Political Science Society, Estrada also fared well in the 2009 National Career Assessment Examination and 2007 National Achievement Test conducted by the Department of Education.
Prior to his enrollment at the country’s first polytechnic university, Estrada was a consistent honor student at the Lopez West Elementary School and Lopez National Comprehensive High School.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Danilo Estrada is a photography buff who once served as co-editor in chief of Ang Tanglaw, his high school’s official student publication.
