A total of 7,427 candidates for graduation marched in the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in CCP Complex, Pasay City on April 29 and 30 for the 2016 commencement exercises of the country's first and largest polytechnic university, and the top choice of employers when hiring fresh graduates.
The April 29 cluster consists of the College of Social Sciences and Development, College of Computer and Information Sciences, College of Education, College of Political Science and Public Administration, Institute of Technology, College of Tourism, Hospitality and Transportation Management, College of Science, and College of Human Kinetics. The April 30 cluster consists of College of Accountancy, Open University System, College of Communication, College of Architecture and Fine Arts, College of Engineering, College of Business Administration and College of Arts and Letters.
Eljun Velga Mellomida, from the Bachelor in Secondary Education (Math), topped the class of 2016. He garnered a general weighted average of 1.29167. Following him is Marinell Catle Pangilinan, Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communication; Krystine Lynnielle Anduyan Villa, Bachelor of Arts in English; Kim Bernard Garcia Fajardo, Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communication; and John Kennedy Delos Reyes Isagunde, Bachelor in Transportation Management.
Meanwhile, Election Law Expert and Senior Citizens' rights advocate Hon. Romulo B. Macalintal; President of Mileage Asia Corporation Hon. Elmer C. Ngo; Deputy Ombudsman Hon. Cyril E. Ramos; Hon. Engineer Reynaldo Carpio; and Hon. Businessman Noel Gonzales were the commencement speakers for the two-day event.
