“AKSYON KABATAAN: Amplifying the Youth's Civic Role in Nation-Building through Community Education,” organized by PUP – National Service Training Program and PUP – Sandiwa, in collaboration with PUP – College of Education, has successfully launched its first part on May 2, 2021 via Zoom Cloud Meetings simulcast to Facebook with five thousand live viewers.
The first episode adhered to the theme, “Ano'ng Ambag Mo: Invocating Youth's Leadership in Promoting Civic Engagement for an Effective Citizenry,” which was divided into two parts: "The General Qualities of a Good Community Leader" and "The Roles and Responsibilities of the Youth in Leading the Community" discussed by Mr. Reienel Ocampo and Mr. Gab Campos respectively.
Mr. Ocampo and Mr. Campos encouraged the youth to register and vote wisely on the next election, and to be more engaged in the community not just as citizens but especially as leaders.
"Today's youth is nation’s tomorrow. As students, we play a vital role in society and how a society is shaped generation after generation. The youth play a great role in nation-building. Let's make our community a better place. (Ang kabataan ngayon ay ang kinabukasan ng bayan. Bilang mga mag-aaral, malaki ang ating gampanin sa lipunan at kung paano nababago ang lipunan sa pagdaan ng mga henerasyon. Ang mga kabataan ay may malaking tungkulin sa pagpapatatag ng ating bayan. Sama-sama tayong kumilos sa pagpapabuti ng ating pamayanan. " Micha Rowane Tuzon Velasquez, one of the participants said.
The next webinar-forum will delve into mental health awareness, titled "TAKING OFF THE MASK: Breaking Silence on Mental Health." which will be held on May 9, 2021 at 9:00 AM at PUP-SANDIWA official Facebook page.
