The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) is grateful to receive 30 pieces of pocket wifi from Junior Chamber International (JCI) – Makati Princess Urduja (MPU) Chapter on September 14 at the Mateo Conference Room.
“We are happy to support PUP students who are in need of support in this time of pandemic. Part of our desire is for this partnership to be sustainable. Students would need regular load to continue participating in online classes, so several members of our organization have pledged to sponsor prepaid load for the next month or two,” Carol Jaraplasan, President of the JCI – MPU Chapter shared during the Turnover and Deed of Donation Ceremony.
The partnership is part of JCI’s Iskonek Project which aims to provide free wifi for Iskolar ng Bayan. Part of the project includes provision of regular prepaid load, trainings, and online mentorship programs to student beneficiaries.
PUP President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi received the donations and expressed his gratitude to the organization for choosing our Sintang Paaralan as its recipient.
“A lot of PUPians will be able to conveniently study this coming semester thanks to your donation. We hope that you continue to be a beacon of hope to our community,” President Muhi said during his opening speech.
Another project with PUP, titled YouthMatter, was also launched during the short ceremony. It is primarily a video contest open to all bonafide PUP students. In the video, they would need to answer any of the three (3) questions on peace, COVID response, and their future. Deadline of submission of entries is until September 19, while winners will be announced on September 28. For further details, interested participants may visit the Facebook Page of JCI – MPU Chapter or refer to the poster here.
The partnership was forged under the leadership of the Special Programs and Projects Office (SPPO) headed by Dr. John Mark Distor and the Office of International Affairs (OIA) headed by Director Jonna Karla Bien. Other officials present during the ceremony include Head Executive Assistant Professor Ann Clarisse De Leon; Engr. Florindo Oquindo of the Alumni Relations and Career Development Office (ARCDO); Prof. Adrian Guinto and Prof. Richard Campos of the SPPO.
