The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the International Committee of the Red Cross on February 9, 2017 at Mateo Conference Hall, Sta. Mesa Campus. In the said MOA, the parties agree to work together to promote Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and other humanitarian principles among the students and faculty members of PUP by incorporating IHL and human rights principles, standards and practices in the curriculum of its Juris Doctor Program.
Representing PUP was President Emanuel C. De Guzman while Atty. Evecar Cruz-Ferrer, Legal Adviser of ICRC, represented and signed on behalf of the ICRC. College of Law’s Dean, Atty. Gemy Lito L. Festin, Ll.M., Associate Dean Atty. Ernesto C. Salao, Ll.M. and Atty. Maria Cristina R. Gimenez stood as witnesses for the University; and for ICRC, witness was Atty. Monalisa L. Barro, its Legal Officer.
