In response to a memorandum issued by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Sta. Mesa spearheaded by the University Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (UDRRMC) organized a university-wide earthquake/fire drill and information campaigns for its students, faculty members and administrative employees on June 21, 2018.
At exactly 2:00 in the afternoon, PUP community in the M.H. Del Pilar Campus executed the "drop, cover, and hold" safety measures after hearing the loud siren.
Various scenarios were also portrayed to show the possible impacts of a strong earthquake including coordination and management, fire suppression operations, emergency medical response, etc.
Simultaneously, the National Service Training Progam (NSTP) conducted a room-to-room information campaign in the Main Building to raise public awareness about the possible risks, and do's don'ts before, during and after a disaster.
The simulation was only a part of the month-long disaster preparedness and information campaign of the university which will run from June 21, 2018 to July 21, 2018.
