All the major parts of the campus were cleaned, such as the lagoon area, oval, chapel, ground floor, etc.&nbsp;</p> <p>Moreover, on February 10, the students expanded the clean-up drive outside the main campus, cleaning up the College of Communication, College of Engineering, Condotel, Institute of Technology, and NDC Compound including the Basketball court and Tennis court.</p> <p>This annual project aims to instill the value of cleanliness and orderliness in the surroundings to the students. The Clean-Up Drive was made possible through the leadership and guidance of VPAA Manuel M. Muhi, Dr. Rovelina B. This was in line with the vision of PUP President Emanuel C. De Guzman to establish PUP as an epistemic community and first National Polytechnic University in the country.</p> <p>The Chinese Embassy&rsquo;s Political Attach&eacute; Atty. Leo Zhang and some of his colleagues facilitated the visit. The delegation was led by Vice President for Administration Adam V. Ramilo in behalf of President De Guzman. The College of Political Science and Public Administration (CPSPA) Dean Antonius C. Umali, Department of Political Science Chairperson Elmer M. Soriano, Department of Political Economy Chairperson Estefanie R. Cortez, Director Jean Paul G. Martirez, and CPSPA faculty members namely, Prof. Ferdinand L. La Puebla, Prof. Ivy Ganadillo, Mr. Ryan M. Aguinaldo, and Mr. Reymundo D.J. De Guzman have participated in the said tour.</p> <p>Opportunities identified between universities include student exchange program, faculty lectures and teaching, and research. De Guzman along with its officials and delegates, solidified partnership with the Chinese Embassy headed by Deputy Ambassador Tan Qingsheng through a courtesy meeting with Chinese representatives on January 28, 2019.</p> <p>The meeting&rsquo;s agenda was to share feedback regarding the study tour held last November 29 to December 7, 2018, which was successfully conducted in three best universities in China, and to discuss the possibility of instituting a Chinese Studies Center in PUP which was initially the plan of College of Political Science and Public Administration (CPSPA) after visiting China. Another agreement during the meeting was for PUP and the Embassy to have signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) detailing possible support in areas of research, student exchanges, language training, studies center development, and possible scholarships. The courtesy meeting also doubled as a thanksgiving event in honor of the Chinese Embassy, symbolizing stronger partnership and collaboration with the embassy to further advance mutual academic excellence with Chinese universities.</p> <p>Deputy Ambassador Qingsheng expressed positive sentiments about further partnerships with PUP by recognizing its reputation as a state university with the biggest population and highest employability rank in the country. Lomibao, News, Communication Management Office <br/><p>In celebration of the National Bible Month, Major Amir Tsarfati, President of Behold Israel visited the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and conducted &ldquo;The Great Separation&rdquo; seminar at the Bulwagang Balagtas, Ninoy Aquino Library and Learning Resource Center (NALLRC) on January 17, 2019.</p> <p>Organized by the Philippine Bible Society, National Bible month seeks to commemorate bible&rsquo;s importance in nation building every month of January which was also strengthened by Presidential Proclamation number 124 last January 24, 2017.</p> <p>&ldquo;Separation may mean lack of foster care from parents but the great separation is the separation of me from my God,&rdquo; Tsarfati highlighted. &ldquo;If righteousness is in the laws then Jesus Christ died in vain for laws will not save us; we are saved by grace,&rdquo; he added.</p> <p>The program was filled with prayers, worship sessions and distribution of bible to PUPians took place.</p> <p>Polytechnic University of the Philippines College of Law spearheaded the said event. Lomibao, News, Communication Management Office <br/><p>PUP Department of Sociology and PUP Sociology Society and the led the seminar titled &ldquo;Consumers&rsquo; and Voters&rsquo; Rights and Welfare Issues in the 2019 Elections: Voters&rsquo; Education forum&rdquo; which was held on January 25, 2019 at the Bulwagang Bonifacio, Ninoy Aquino Library and Learning Resources.</p> <p>The forum, in partnership with Bantay Konsyumer, Inc., the Nationalist Economic Protectionism Association (NEPA), and Democracy Watch discussed voters&rsquo; rights and election-related concerns.&nbsp;</p> <p>Engr. Roderick Ilagan, the resident division chief of systems and operations of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Information and Technology Department discussed different technical terms about the elections. He also reassured that VCMs or voters&rsquo; counting machine cannot be manipulated technically.</p> <p>Formal procedures during the election were discussed by Dr. Arwin Serrano, a trustee of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting. Lomibao, News, Communication Management Office <br/><p>&ldquo;It is claimed by Doctor Dumdum that social media is a double-edge sword for it is a good source of information and tool for awareness but could also turn as avenue to self-destruction and bullying,&rdquo; uttered Janelyne Tuyan, one of keynote speakers, during the 11th Annual Youth Congress of Peers Facilitators Association at the Bulwagang Balagtas, Ninoy Aquino Library and Learning Resource Center (NALLRC) on January 31, 2019.</p> <p>Headed by Guidance Counselling and Testing Services and College of Social Sciences and Development, the seminar revolved in the theme, &ldquo;Eyes Wide Open: Exploring the Implications of Social Media Use on Mental Health Today,&rdquo; which was participated by different universities and colleges from Metro Manila and provinces nearby.</p> <p>&ldquo;To fight social media addiction, we must accept self-addiction, focus on limiting ourselves from using it, get a new hobby and spend time with our loved ones,&rdquo; suggested Professor Erickson Amion as he gives engaging advice to mitigate psychosocial impacts of social media to the youth.</p> <p>Moreover, he also mentioned that it is the unpredictability aspect of social media which causes individuals to continue browsing and updating their newsfeeds until it turns out as a habitual behaviour.</p> <p>&ldquo;As stated by Sacyat, cellular phones are used [and without], parental guidance, people may thrive on wrong indoctrinations,&rdquo; Tuyan, of RGO Psychology Review Center stressed on her lecture.</p> <p>In addition, Tuyan also provided some keys and takeaways on how to ace the Psychometrician licensure examination in October 2019.</p> <p>Cassandra Joy V.
