The whole Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) community joined the rest of the nation for this annual celebration. This year, the opening ceremony was held at the PUP Freedom Park, with the theme: &ldquo;Salute to the Philippine Flag.&rdquo;&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The PUP flag raising activity was jointly organized by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA), National Service Training Program (NSTP) Office, and the Safety and Security Office. University officials graced the said event which highlighted the Panunumpa at Pagpupugay sa Watawat.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The National Flag Days celebration lasts for 15 days, ending on June 12 in celebration of the Philippine Independence Day. Spearheading the annual activity of simultaneous flag-raising is the National Historical Commission of the Philippines; with this year&rsquo;s partner, Pronove Tai Property Consultants. First-time takers of the rigorous examinations fared a notch higher with a 71.43% passing rate.</p> <p>Meanwhile, other PUP campuses also showed good performances for the licensure exams. PUP &ndash; Lopez Campus has a passing rate of 38.89%, while PUP &ndash; Sta. Maria Cristina Jimenez, Chief of the CHRGS, discussed&nbsp;about sexual harassment on campus and the importance of knowing one&rsquo;s rights. Ferrer, News, Communication Management Office <br/><p>In the recently concluded 32nd Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. Annual Conference, the PUP Quality Assurance Center bagged the top spot as the Most Outstanding Internal Quality Assurance Unit (IQAU) for 2018.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://scontent.fmnl15-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/54258083_2112598935502765_5077282635345035264_n.jpg?_nc_cat=110&amp;_nc_ht=scontent.fmnl15-1.fna&amp;oh=5008778dece20728ccf4a058b1195881&amp;oe=5D46A00E" /></p> <p>This commendation that was given to top five (5) IQAUs was awarded based on the accomplishments and achievements of the internal quality assurance unit for 2018. Moreover, the structure, program implementation, and the budget priority given to the unit by its institution were also considered. The roster of awardees were: Polytechnic University of the Philippines, top 1; West Visayas State University, top 2; Visayas State University, top 3; Pangasinan State University, top 4; and Jose Rizal Memorial State University, top 5.</p> <p>The receipt of this award was strongly affirmed with another award -- the recognition of PUP as second top ranking SUC in terms of number of programs accredited in the recent year. The University was able to submit 70 programs for accreditation which included the PUP branches. This was the highest number of programs applied for accreditation in the history of PUP. Furthermore, 2018 was a significant year as some of the academic programs offered in the PUP Branches attained Level I accreditation status.</p> <p>The top SUCs were ranked as follows: Cebu Technological University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Negros Oriental State University, University of Antique, Visayas State University, Bicol University, Cavite State University, Northwest Samar State University, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, University of Rizal System, Isabela State University, West Visayas State University, Southern Luzon State University, and Tarlac State University.</p> <p>QAC Director Sanjay P. Claudio received the awards on behalf of PUP. Also present were Chief Rebecca E. Palma, QA Coordinator Teresa V. Mobilla, and College of Business Administration Dean Raquel G. Ramos. &ldquo;These awards would not be possible without the support and guidance of the PUP Executive Committee headed by President Emanuel C. De Guzman and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Manuel M. Muhi and the strong sense of service of all the academic and non-academic officials of the University in the Main Campus and in our Branches,&rdquo; said Dir.
