“We cannot detach our personal life on the global context
lest we lose our spot in the academic community. The PUP
must be an epistemic community – an institution that
produces and manages knowledge – for it to become relevant
in the world.”
Message from the President
Warmest
greetings to all!
First of all I would like to welcome you in PUP, our Sintang Paaralan. Congratulations for now you are all
Iskolar ng Bayan! I myself was once a student of this
beloved university and I know what you are feeling right now.
The excitement coupled with nervousness and some sort of anxiety
are just natural feelings which will soon be transformed,
hopefully, to a passion to be avid seekers of truth and students
of life and society who work for my vision of an epistemic
community.
I would like to reiterate that a liberal atmosphere exists in
the university, wherein ideological, political, cultural and
religious beliefs are upheld and respected. I also encourage
everybody to join any student organization that you like but
such undertakings must neither interfere with nor be a reason to
neglect your studies and other academic pursuits.
As a leader of a new administration, I pledge meaningful
changes for the betterment of the academic community. For the
coming months and years to come, you will be a witness to a new
PUP, wherein, all, including you the students, faculty members,
employees, the alumni and all the stakeholders of this
university will be very proud of. But, I would like to request
that like any member of the academic community today, you should
study my 8-point Agenda so that you can help me in guiding and
leading the university. I need all the support that I can get
for transforming PUP into an epistemic community or a network of
knowledge-based experts who help decisionmakers define the
problems they face, identify various policy solutions and assess
the outcomes.
Again, congratulations and welcome to PUP. God bless us all.
