Project Description

The Gawad Tuklas: The 2^nd PUP Faculty Research Awards is an annual event which aims to recognize outstanding faculty researches in the areas of:

1. Science, Engineering, and Technology
2. Business, Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences

General Mechanics

1. The research project submitted for the Awards must have been conducted and completed within the period of January 2013 to June 2015.
2. The College Dean or Branch/ Campus Director shall endorse the research project entry to qualify for the Awards.
3. The research project may either be undertaken by a group of faculty members or individually conducted. Individually conducted researches such as term papers, dissertations, theses or other similar projects which were completed in compliance with or fulfillment of degree requirements are disqualified.
4. Researches which have been presented in conferences will be accepted. However, researches already published in any local, national, and international journals are disqualified.
5. Commissioned researches which either received or granted funding support from external sources may still be qualified for the award provided that the copyright ownership remains with the researcher/s and that no waiver of rights in favor of the funding agency was ever issued.
6. Research project conducted by faculty members – regular, temporary and part-time from various colleges and branches/campuses can be submitted as entry.
7. Only researches included in the College/Campus Accomplishment Report for the period stated in item 1 submitted to the Institutional Planning Office will qualify as entries for the Awards.
8. A maximum of three (3) entries per faculty will be allowed.
9. Researches conducted by Directors, Chiefs and other officials of OVPREPD are automatically disqualified from participating in the said awards.

Board of Judges

Nationally recognized researchers and academics from agencies and other universities shall be invited to constitute the panel of judges subject to the approval of the President. To avoid bias and partiality, no member of the board shall come from the university.

Criteria for Judging

Prizes and Declaration of Winners

For each category, the following winners shall be declared with their corresponding financial rewards and awards:

• Best Faculty Research Award,  Php 25,000 and Trophy/Plaque
• 2^nd Best Faculty Research Award, Php 15,000 and Trophy/Plaque
• 3^rd Best Faculty Research Award, Php 10,000 and Trophy / Plaque
• 10 Finalists, Php 2,000 and Certificate

The finalists must have garnered average scores of not less than 80% to be eligible for the cash incentive.

Deadline of Submission: August 31, 2015

LIST OF REQUIREMENTS (All in Triplicate Copies)

1. Entry Form
2. Completed Research Project
3. CV/s of Researchers
4. Affidavit of Copyright Ownership or Certificate of Copyright Ownership from National Library or IPCO
5. Endorsement Letter from the Dean/Director stating among others:
   1. The Research Project is not published here or abroad;
   2. The Research Project is of academic quality which merit University recognition; &
   3. The Research Project and Research Team comply with the Awards Mechanics
6. Authority / Certificate of Authorization issued to PUP to have the Project published / disseminated to the public (for externally funded or commissioned research)
7. If the Research Project is a commissioned project or a recipient of a research grant from external funding agencies, copies of grant contract or commission contract shall be submitted to the committee.
