About PUPWebSite

PUPWebSite is the official website and portal of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. It serves as an effective medium to reach out to an interconnected world, giving the online community better access to University information, activities, news and insights.

Managing PUPWebSite

We never expected that PUPWebSite would go on a long way since it only started as a college feasibility project. It has been an experience getting this site into what it is today and we want to share those experiences with you, so perhaps you'll be able to apply them as you build and manage your own website.

When the PUPWebSite project initially launched in 1998, it was designed only to display basic information about the University. The site was then hosted at GeoCities having 8MB of HTML documents and image files. As the site took off in 1999, more and more responses and requests began filling its online guestbook. In the later months, a number of pages containing relevant information about the University were added.

Today, PUPWebSite continues to evolve dramatically as it gives its visitors information that is relevant and useful to them and the website and its social network channels has matured into one of the University's most important medium for information dissemination. Our visitors send us feedback through email or the website survey. That information helps us focus on what content and features to further develop for an improved PUPWebSite experience.

The name is stylized as "PUPWebSite" in reference to its original name back in 1998 and also to create a unique blend with a touch of novelty.

PUPWebSite 9.0

PUPWebSite 9.0 (codename steorrablæse)  is so far the best online presentation of the University’s branding and service offerings. You will notice a contemporary yet professional design with functionality, ease-of-use, accessibility and content in mind. It is built using the latest Web Standards (HTML5, CSS3) and applies a Responsive Web Design (RWD) approach which is aimed at providing an optimal viewing experience—easy reading and navigation—across a wide range of devices (from mobile devices to desktop computer monitors). This makes PUPWebSite among the first Philippine university websites that utilizes RWD technology.

Other improvements include:

  • Streamlined display of information on the homepage and Web pages for easy reading;
  • Bigger homepage image slider to showcase University achievements and upcoming events;
  • Summary representation of active articles to facilitate quick reading with link to read on to details;
  • A more simple (and straightforward) site menu for fast and easy navigation;
  • New PUP Media Gallery, an online catalog of University photos, videos, audio and documents;
  • Social media buttons so that visitors can follow us through our official Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and YouTube channel.

PUPWebSite will always be a work in progress. We will continue to update it regularly with more features and content. We always welcome and highly appreciate visitor feedback as we continue to improve it.
