Department of Computer Science

The mission of the Computer Science Program is to produce computer science graduates who, trained in the design, implementation, and analysis of computational systems and skilled in technical communication, will contribute towards the advancement of computing science and technology

Objectives

The Department believes that after a few years of graduating from the program, our student will demonstrate that they have:

  • the ability to design, implement, and analyze computational systems
  • the capability to tackle complex computer science related problems in the real world;
  • contributed towards the advancement of computing science and technology
  • the capacity to work effectively with peers in computational tasks;
  • cognizance of ethical, social, and legal issues pertaining to computer science.

Department of Information Technology

The mission of the Department of Information Technology is to produce IT professionals competent in the areas of systems analysis and design, applications development, database administration, network administration, and systems implementation and maintenance among others.

Objectives

General Objectives

  • To support the organizational strategic plan,   vision   and   mission of the university through the effective application of information technology.
  • To ensure that our students receive the highest quality education possible, our curriculum incorporates various courses from information technology, software engineering and management, focusing on meeting the needs of IT users within an organizational and societal context through the selection, creation, application, integration and administration of computing technologies.  
  • To interact with high tech community partners 
  • To provide advice and support in the implementation of technical solutions throughout the organization
  • To deliver services to the university that meet established performance standards 

Specific Objectives

  • To provide our graduates with a broad-based education that will form the basis for personal growth and life-long learning.
  • To provide our graduates with a quality technical education that will equip them for productive careers in the field of Information Technology.
  • To provide our students with the communication skills and social and ethical awareness requisite for the effective and responsible practice of their professions.
  • To maintain a diverse student population and actively promote an environment in which students from all groups, including the traditionally under-represented, may successfully pursue the study of Information Technology.
  • To maintain a qualified and dedicated faculty who actively pursue excellence in teaching.
  • To define and support technology standards for the faculty and students.

The mission of the Department of Information Systems and Sciences is to produce IT professionals that can effectively design and implement solutions that integrate information technology with business processes.
