The Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) program is offered in the CPSPA Graduate Studies Programs for those who intend to advance their careers in the government service, non-government, and academic sectors. The program provides a solid theoretical foundation in public management, administration as well as hands-on experience in good public governance.
The Doctor of Public Administration program is envisioned to be the cutting edge in the advanced training in public management, administration, and governance education.
Produce competent graduates in public administration who will lead the country toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The alumni are expected to possess the desired qualities of excellent political-administrative-technical public servants that are highly-qualified, practice ethics and accountability, critical-thinking nationalists, and internationally recognized experts in the field of public management, administration, and governance.
Any allied fields (2 subjects) from DEM or DBA programs
RSH 740: Dissertation Writing (After passing the Comprehensive Examination; Three-tiered oral defense)
Seven (7) years (Upon passing the Comprehensive Examination may be extended for another 5 years)
If the student has not taken masters courses aligned in the field of public administration, he is required to take Pre-DPA units of qualifying courses to be determined by the Academic Program Chair or the Graduate Studies Secretary unless otherwise specified in the curriculum;
The student may take more than the prescribed units listed in the curriculum to meet his career objective and professional needs;
Cognate courses may be chosen from among the courses offered which are outside the required subjects in the student’s curriculum; and
If the student has completed subjects substantially equivalent to the required courses in the curriculum, he may write the Dean for the accreditation of not more than 30% of the total curriculum units of the program.
