2015 Academic Contests

In celebration of the University’s 111^th Founding Anniversary with the theme PUP@111: One Perspective, One University, One Purpose, the PUP Community is invited to join the 2015 Academic Contest.

Contest Rules and Mechanics

General Rules

1. Except for General Science, Basic Mathematics, Basic Statistics and IT Quiz Bee where contestants must be freshmen or high school students, the contests are open to all bona fide students at any year level of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines who have been chosen by their respective colleges/branches/units as official representative/s.
2. The University Academic Contests 2015 is open to all, including previous winners.
3. A student shall represent his/her college or branch only once and should not join in any other event of this year’s PUP Academic Contests.
4. All teams/contestants are required to be at the contest site 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
5. The following number of College/Branch/Unit representative/s shall be strictly followed:

   Team Contests	Individual Contests
   (1) Basic Math, (2) Basic Statistics, (3) General Science, (4) General Information, (4) Social Science, (5) Philippine History, Culture and the Arts, and (6) Inter-Collegiate Debate**	(1) Spelling Quiz Bee (2) Dagliang Talumpati, (3) Extemporaneous Speaking	(4) Essay Writing, (5) Pagsulat ng Sanaysay
   One (1) team only per college/branch/unit composed of 2 members plus an alternate For the Inter-Collegiate Debate, the team composition shall have three (3) members plus one (1) alternate	One (1) representative per college/branch/unit	Maximum of two (2) representatives per college/branch/unit

6. Official representatives must submit the following requirements:
   1. duly accomplished registration form with recommendation from the dean of the respective college or director of the campus (see attached forms);
   2. latest colored photo (2x2) in white background, including the alternate;
   3. photocopy of either the Certificate of Registration for the First Semester, SY 2015-2016 or PUP ID.
7. Deadline for registration and submission of requirements are as follows:

8. The following point system shall be adopted to determine the over-all champion of the PUP Academic Olympics 2015:

   INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY
   First Place	9 points
   Second Place	6 points
   Third Place	3 points
   Participation	1 point
   TEAM CATEGORY
   First Place	12 points
   Second Place	9 points
   Third Place	6 points
   Participation	2 points

9. There shall be no tie in any of the individual and team contests.
10. Winners shall receive medals, certificates and cash prizes during the Awarding Ceremony on October 2, 2015 at the Bulwagang Balagtas, NALLRC.
