International Research Conference on Higher Education07/31/2017 International Event
January 24 to 27, 2018
Inna Grand Bali Resort
The IRCHE Working Committee has been monitoring the situation in Bali, Indonesia since the news about the imminent eruption of Mt. Agung came out. Inasmuch as the safety and well-being of the conference participants, speakers, staff and organizers is the utmost priority of the Committee, it periodically solicits information from reliable sources; and collects advisories from government agencies which more or less provide a better understanding of what really is the situation in Bali.
The last few days indicate ominous signs. Tremors wreaking havoc to the volcano’s immediate surrounding; the mountain’s crater spewing thick, sulphuric and poisonous smoke; and other alarming volcanic activities cause major concern to government agencies of Indonesia. The Universitas Dhyana Pura Bali, partner university of IRCHE 2017, and other Indonesian local agencies advised for the postponement and rescheduling of the conference. This is to ensure protection, safety and welfare of all those who are involved in the conference.
The Committee believes that there is no greater purpose than to shelter lives from danger and harm. In this regard, recognizing the wisdom and sanity of the recommendation of Universitas Dhyana Pura Bali, the Committee convened and later decided to reschedule IRCHE 2017 from its original dates to January 24-27, 2018. There is, however, no change in venue which is at Inna Grand Bali Resort, Bali, Indonesia with a hope that the condition becomes better in January 2018.
In line with this postponement, as there were already pre-conference expenses incurred, the Committee would like to inform the participants that no application for refund or payment withdrawal will be entertained. Thus, the Committee prays for understanding on this matter as the postponement is caused by force majeure.
