Qualifications and Requirements for International Students

Application Calendar

Early application is prescribed to give time for conversion of temporary visa to student visa or special study permit at the Bureau of Immigration.

Requirements before Enrollment

For submission to the Office of International Affairs after taking the Admission Examination for International Students, at least a month before enrollment

Documents executed outside the Philippines must be authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/Consular Officials of the Philippine Foreign Service Post at the place of issuance or nearest to it, with English translation, if written in other foreign language.

Upon arrival in the Philippines, applicant must already proceed to the Bureau of Quarantine and secure Medical Health Certificate.

Bachelor's Degree Program

Incoming Freshman - If you are a graduating high school student or a high school graduate whose academic performance is above-average and has a good moral character, you are eligible to apply for admission to the University.

Transferring Students - For students who are currently enrolled in another school, and would like to pursue their academic studies in PUP.

Application Calendar: March-April (for First Semester), September-October (for Second Semester), January-February (for Summer Term)

Admission Examination for International Students: April or earlier (for First Semester); September, October (for Second Semester); March (for Summer Term)

Enrollment Period: April, May, October, March, April

Date of Commencement: First Semester: June; Second Semester: November; Summer: April

Program Duration: 4 years, 5 years for BS Engineering and BS Architecture

Qualifications

• High School Graduate who has not enrolled in any degree program
• Graduating High school student of the current school year

Requirements before enrollment

1. Application Form for International Students
2. Two letters of recommendation which address the applicant’s academic potential, level of English proficiency*, extra curricular activities, personal character and comment whether or not the applicant is mature enough to study abroad
3. Transcript of Records/Scholas-tic Records duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the applicant’s country of origin and one (1) certified true copy
4. Photocopy of data pages of passport showing date and place of birth and birth certificate or its equivalent duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post
5. Notarized affidavit of support including bank statements, notarized notice of grant for institutional scholars to cover expenses for the student’s accommodation and subsistence, as well as other school dues and other incidental expenses
6. Duly authenticated police clearance/certificate of non-criminality/NBI clearance
7. Medical Health Certificate from the Bureau of Quarantine
8. Medical Clearance issued by the PUP Medical Clinic.
9. 3 copies 2 in. x 2 in. picture with white background with applicant's name on the photo.
10. Personal History Statement duly signed by the applicant and with 2X2 photo and thumbprints
11. Certificate of Marriage (photocopy for female married applicant)

*IELTS Score of 4.5-5.0 or Toefl score of 480-500 may be required to take prescribed number of hours course of English for International students

Intensive English course is prescribed prior to enrollment after applicant takes the English Placement test

Master's Degree Program

Date of Commencement: First Semester: June; Second Semester: November; Summer: April

Program Duration: 2.5 years

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree - Appropriate or related to the program; if the bachelor’s degree is in another field, the applicant has to make up for deficiencies by taking 18 units of pre-degree courses prescribed in the relevant program of studies in this university.
• Grade Requirement - A scholastic rating of at least 2.0, B, 85% or better in the undergraduate courses
• Qualify in the admission examination
• Pass the interview by the Program Chair and/or the Dean

Program Duration: 3 years

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree Holder (with thesis) from a university or college of recognized standing. If the master’s degree is in another field, the applicant has to make up for deficiencies by taking 18 units of pre-degree courses prescribed in the relevant program of studies in this university.
  A scholastic rating of at least 1.75, B+, or 87% in the master’s degree courses
• Qualify in the admission examination
• Pass the interview by the Program Chair and/or the Dean
• Have a minimum of one year work experience
